520 MW Koruson 2 cluster of wind and solar projects developed for a portfolio of 10 mines, smelters and processing plants across South Africa.

The Koruson 2 (K2) cluster is the first wave of projects under the Envusa Energy joint venture formed between Anglo American and EDF power solutions.
The cluster comprises the Umsobomvu Wind Project (140MW), Hartebeesthoek Wind Project (140MW) and Mooi Plaats PV Project (240MW), all located in the Hydra supply area on the Eastern Cape and Northern Cape provincial border.
All of the projects connect to the new Koruson 400kV Main Transmission Substation (MTS), being built as part of EDF power solutions’ Koruson 1 project cluster.
Envusa Energy acts as the trading entity, aggregating power from the projects and selling to the ultimate off-taker mines.
Koruson 2 forms part of Envusa Energy’s pipeline of wind and solar projects in South Africa. Envusa Energy's renewable energy ecosystem is expected to supply a mix of renewable energy, generated from projects embedded at the customer operations, and from other projects from which renewable energy will be wheeled via the national grid.
The Koruson 2 cluster benefits from outstanding yield resources, coupled with a robust Eskom grid connection. Koruson 2 offtakers, Valterra Platinum, Kumba Iron Ore and De Beers, have committed to 20-year offtake of 461MW, 11MW and 48MW respectively. The three generators reached commercial operation during 2026, abating approximately 2.2 million tonnes per year of carbon dioxide and providing significant electricity cost savings.
