The facility comprises approximately 420 000 Trina Solar modules and 943 string inverters across three solar PV areas. Using single-axis tracking technology, the facility follows the sun’s movement throughout the day to optimise generation, producing approximately 700 000 MWh of renewable electricity in its first year.

The 140 MW Umsobomvu Wind Energy Facility in the Eastern Cape is part of the R5 billion Koruson 2 cluster, supplying clean wind energy to Valterra Platinum, Kumba Iron Ore, and De Beers.

The 72.5 MWp Sishen Solar PV Project supplies clean energy directly to Kumba Iron Ore’s Sishen mine, delivering 150,000 MWh of renewable electricity annually and cutting the mine’s CO2 footprint by 140,000 tonnes a year.

The 140 MW Hartebeesthoek Wind Energy Facility in the Eastern Cape is part of the Koruson 2 cluster, supplying clean wind energy to Valterra Platinum, Kumba Iron Ore, and De Beers.

The 520 MW Koruson 2 cluster of wind and solar projects is being developed for a portfolio of offtakers to deliver energy to 10 mines, smelters and processing plants across South Africa.
